One gloomy afternoon, the air was filled with the smell of rain. Seven-year-old twins Adit and Ria were sitting by the window and watching the raindrops dance on the window.

‘I wish we could go outside,’ Ria sighed.

‘It looks like a storm is coming, and Mom will never let us go out and play,’ Adit said.

‘But I want to bathe in the rain!’ Ria said, stretching her hands out.

Just then, their grandmother walked in.

‘Dadi, it is SO boring to stay at home in such beautiful weather,’ Adit said, looking outside.

‘Hmm . . . I understand. How about an indoor adventure?’ Dadi suggested.

‘What kind of adventure?’ Adit’s and Ria’s eyes lit up.

‘You will soon find out. Ria, please bring my bag,’ Dadi said with a mischievous smile.

Ria ran to fetch the bag, and Dadi pulled out a large map from inside it.

‘This is a treasure map with clues,’ she said. ‘It will lead you to a hidden treasure somewhere in the house.’

‘Let’s start looking!’ the kids said, jumping with excitement.

Ria read the first clue. It said: Find the place where the sound of rain is the loudest.

Ria thought for a moment and exclaimed, ‘The attic! The rain is always loudest up there.’

The twins dashed up the stairs and into the attic, where the rain pounded on the roof. There, they found another clue hidden inside an old chest. It read: Search for the spot where light fights darkness.

‘That’s the living room lamp,’ Adit exclaimed. ‘We always turn it on when it gets dark.’

In the living room, they found the next clue taped to the lamp. It read: Look for a place where you keep warm and cozy.

‘The fireplace!’ Ria shouted.

They ran to the fireplace and discovered a small box hidden behind a stack of firewood. Inside the box was the final clue: The treasure lies where stories come to life.

‘The bookshelf!’ they said together.

They ran to the bookshelf, and after searching for a bit, found a shiny key inside an old, dusty book.

‘What’s this key for?’ Ria wondered.

Dadi appeared with a smile. ‘The key unlocks a special surprise. Follow me!’

She led them to a locked door in the basement. Ria inserted the key in the keyhole and turned it. The door creaked open to the smallest room in the house, which now looked cozy, with blankets, pillows and a small projector. On a table, there were bowls of popcorn and their favourite snacks.

‘Welcome to your very own indoor movie theatre!’  Dadi announced.

The kids were thrilled. They spent the rest of the rainy day snuggled up, watching their favourite adventure movies and enjoying the delicious treats.

By the time the movie ended, the rain had slowed to a gentle patter.

‘This was surely the best rainy day ever,’ Adit said, his eyes half-closed.

‘Yeah, I hope it rains again tomorrow,’ Ria said, yawning.

Dadi chuckled, tucking them in their blankets.

‘Remember,’ she said softly, ‘even the rainiest days can be full of adventures with a little imagination.’

Smiling, Adit and Ria drifted off to sleep, dreaming of the next adventure that awaited them—rain or shine.
