How It Began

When Champak launched in 1968, children’s stories in India often revolved around miracles, superhuman heroes or frightening villains. Champak chose a different path.

We believed that children connect most deeply with stories that feel real. So, we created characters—mostly animals—who think, feel and behave like them. They aren’t perfect. They make mistakes. They learn, grow and try again. Just like children do.

We chose animal characters because they help stories travel beyond borders. A rabbit, a bear or a monkey can belong anywhere in the world. In Champakvan, our story forest, even characters who behave badly are given the chance to learn, grow and change. We believe that everyone deserves a second chance.

This belief has been at the heart of Champak, and it continues to guide us today.
