About Champak:
Champak is one of India’s oldest and most cherished children’s magazines, known for its stories, puzzles, and activities that have entertained and educated generations. As we expand our digital presence, we are looking for a creative and digitally savvy Assistant Editor to support our growing web and online content initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Digital Content Planning & Development:
Curate, write, and edit engaging content for the Champak website, including stories, fun facts, quizzes, puzzles, educational articles, and activity-based content for children aged 5–12. - Web Publishing & CMS Management:
Upload and format content on the website using a content management system (CMS). Ensure SEO optimization, readability, and proper tagging of articles. - Content Repurposing:
Adapt and repackage print content for digital use, ensuring it is suitable for web consumption and visually engaging. - Audience Engagement & Analytics:
Monitor website traffic and user engagement metrics. Work with the digital team to implement strategies that increase traffic and time-on-site. - Multimedia Coordination:
Collaborate with designers and video editors to create visuals, animations, and interactive elements for online stories and features. - Content Calendar Management:
Maintain and execute a digital editorial calendar in coordination with the digital and social media teams. - Digital Trends & Competitor Analysis:
Keep track of emerging trends in children’s digital content and provide recommendations for new formats or features (e.g., audio stories, interactive games, etc.).
Qualifications & Skills:
- Master’s degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communication, Digital Media, or related fields.
- 3-5 years of experience in digital content creation or editorial roles, preferably in children’s content, educational platforms, or digital media.
- Strong writing and editing skills tailored for young readers.
- Hands-on experience with CMS platforms like WordPress.
- Basic understanding of SEO, Google Analytics, and web publishing tools.
- Ability to think visually and collaborate with designers and multimedia creators.
- Knowledge of HTML and digital design basics is a plus.
